Snow Events

Marple Township has over 80 miles of roads. We have a fleet of 15 trucks that will be dispatched as soon possible. Every storm event will be handled the same way. We ask for your patience and help so we can clear the streets as soon as possible.

Please follow the guidelines below during a snow emergency. Our snow removal policy is as follows: the major roads will be plowed first, then the secondary roads. When snow accumulates, the roads are plowed with a single pass in each direction. After the initial pass, the plow will return to widen the streets curb to curb!

Be patient, the Township crew will stay on the job until all the roads are clear.

Keep vehicles off the street so that the snow can be removed curb to curb.

Ordnance 2005-11
Whenever a snow emergency exists, it shall be unlawful during the period of such emergency for any person to park a motor vehicle or to allow a motor vehicle to remain parked on any street/highway or portion thereof designated in § 285-57 of this article or to operate any motor vehicle on any such street/highway or portion thereof unless such vehicle shall be equipped with adequate equipment to provide sufficient traction to keep such vehicle in motion so that other traffic on such street/highway will not be blocked or seriously impeded.

Remove any items that obstruct the plow trucks, such as basketball nets and garbage cans.

Drive only if necessary!

DO NOT shovel or blow snow back into the street from your driveway or sidewalk after the plows have gone by. This creates a safety hazard for vehicles and extra work for the Department of Public Works to re-plow or salt spot areas.

Placement of Snow on Roadway Prohibited
It shall be unlawful for any person to place or have placed in the streets/highways, by any means, any snow or ice being removed from the sidewalk, driveway or any other portion of the property. The property owner or tenant shall be deemed responsible for any snow or ice found in the roadway.
